Veszprém

Veszprém was a city on Reach. In the later years of the 24th century, some time after the year 2390, the city became home to the planet's first space elevator.

During the Fall of Reach, a Covenant infiltration unit attacked the head of the space elevator leading to Veszprém which was heavily defended by Marines and a team of Spartan supersoldiers. The elevator was one of many providing safe routes to and from Reach's surface into orbit and a massive amount of military hardware traveled on it. Covenant troops fought their way onto the orbital station, killing everyone in their path at a great cost to themselves. Two hundred Marines died defending the station from almost a thousand Covenant and a new enemy troop marched over their own dead and used the elevator to fight their way down to the surface. There, the Covenant gathered all of the elevator's surface defenders and maintenance crews, marshalled them into a warehouse filled with military hardware destined for orbiting transport ships and burned the place. Amongst those killed was Maggie Mobuto.
