UNSC Say My Name (hull classification symbol CA-942)[5] is a Marathon-class heavy cruiser in service with the UNSC Navy. During the Battle for Earth, she served in the Fifth Fleet (which in turn was assigned to the UNSC Home Fleet) under the command of an unidentified admiral.[1][2]

Service history[edit]

The Say My Name is one of two ships known to have fought in both the Harvest campaign and be still in service by the time of the Battle for Earth.[4] Veronica Dare served on the warship as an ONI intelligence officer before the Battle for Earth.[4]

During the opening engagement of the battle, Say My Name was one of eight cruisers in Earth's defense fleet. During the initial attack, the CAS-class assault carrier Solemn Penance broke through Earth's defenses and came to stop above the city of New Mombasa. FLEETCOM issued an unexpected order to the commanding officer: the ship was to launch a force of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers from the 65th Shock Troops Division (including Edward Buck's fireteam, Alpha-Nine) onto the carrier, breaching its hull and forcing the ship down by gaining access to the interior.[6] Codenamed Operation: BUMRUSH, this attempt was greenlit at 1602 hours but was foiled when the carrier jumped into slipspace at 1603 hours.[7]

Production notes[edit]

Say My Name was first identified as a cruiser in the Superintendent viral campaign, and was later specified as a Marathon-class heavy cruiser by other sources. However, Veronica Dare's character profile in Halo 3: ODST, as well as the Halo 3: ODST Official Strategy Guide, refer to the ship as a frigate.[4]
