The Energy Sword is a weapon that is featured in the Halo 3: ODST component of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. It was not included in the original Xbox 360 and Collection releases of ODST due to the game's lack of Elite enemies, and only introduced into the Collection for use in Firefight in the 2022 Floodfight update (alongside a player-useable Sentinel Beam).[1][2]

In Halo 3: ODST, the Energy Sword featured is identical to that used in Halo 3, being the Fleet of Retribution variant used during the end of the Human-Covenant war.

Campaign[edit]
The Energy Sword is not useable by the player in the Halo 3: ODST campaign, and thanks to the game's lack of Elite enemies, it does not appear as an NPC weapon either. Only one Energy Sword can be seen in the entire campaign on the level Tayari Plaza; in the middle of the level in the section where Buck and Dare discuss the massacre of Elites by the Brutes, two deactivated hilts can be seen on the floor next to the corpse of a Stealth Elite, Vero 'Ahtulai.
Firefight[edit]
Energy Swords were first made useable in Halo 3: ODST in the 2022 Floodfight update, as a weapon that can be found in Firefight. They can be set as a spawn weapon in custom gametype settings, or dropped by enemy SpecOps Elites who wield them (who were also added in the same update).[1] They reuse the model, texture, and tag from the iteration of the weapon included in Halo 3, and perform identically. However, like other ODST weapons in MCC, it can not equip the Halo 3 weapon skins.
