The Gate is an area on the Shield World of Requiem that leads to the world's Cartographer. It has seen many battles in the Requiem campaign.

History

The Gate location on Requiem

The area was first reached by Covenant remnant forces after entering Requiem. They entered into a battle with John-117 on his way exploering the planet. John-117 destroyed and cleared the area of Covenant, moving into the Forerunner structure.[1] Six months later in early 2558, the Covenant had secured this area and had beaten back attemps by the UNSC Marine Corps to dislodge their posistion. In response, Commander Sarah Palmer sent Fireteam Crimson to neutralize the Covenant. After the Covenant are neutralized, several Prometheans translocated into the area. Crimson fought them off and disabled Forerunner turrets the Covenant was using. Robert Dalton then arrived in a Pelican and extracted Crimson after all the foes were defeated.[2]

Later Parg Vol led a Covenant battle group to the posistion, and Crimson was deployed to neautralize him. After a skirmish, Vol and his Sangheili battle group were all killed. After facing more foes, Crimson left the location.[3] The Gate later housed energy generators for scientists working at the Refuge. Crimson was sent in by Jared Miller to investigate power fluctuations at the Refuge base. Activating the generators, numerous Prometheans began transalocating into the area, and Crimson defended the generators while Leslie Boyd finished his work on Requiem'sSlipspace portal transport system. Crimson defended the generators successfully, allowing Boyd to cut off the Promethean's teleporting. Boyd opened a portal for Crimson taking them to the Refuge.[4]

Trivia

  • The back of the canyon at the Gate leading to the rest of Requiem is blocked in Spartan Ops for gameplay purposes.
