Template:Ratings Soell is the star that Threshold, Basis and Installation 04 orbit.[1]

The star's location in the galaxy is unknown. Prior to Halo's release, some speculated and theorized that it was factually the star Iota Horologii[verification needed] (50 light-years from Earth[2]), based on lateral hints from Bungie that that star was connected to the game somehow (specifically a sign left in front of the Bungie Webcam).

Behind the scenes

  • Although an excerpt in the 2003 Halo Sybex Guide is the first canon source to refer to the star as "Soell", the name was originally proposed by a fan, Loren Petrich.[3]
  • The star's name is generally believed to be a reference to former Bungie Community Guy Matt Soell.[4]
