René-005[1] was conscripted into the SPARTAN-II Program in 2517. When the time came for the Spartan augmentations in 2525, René became crippled and was unable to continue to fight. René was last known to be floating in a neural buoyancy gel tank next to Kirk-018, with his or her skeletal system twisted beyond recognition to the point "that they hardly looked human anymore". The last time René was seen was on the UNSC Carrier Atlas. René's current whereabouts are unknown to date, even the gender.[2]
