Imber is a Unified Earth Government Inner Colony world. Late in the Human-Covenant War, the Covenant attacked the colony and Orbital Drop Shock Troopers and at least one Spartan, Kelly-087 were deployed to defend it. Operation: DEVIL FREEDOM was concerned with the evacuation of civilians from the planet and the targeting of Covenant landing craft for orbital bombardment.[2] During the battle, Staff Sergeant Malcolm Geffen, Corporal Vasily Beloi and Emanuel Barakat hijacked a Spirit to exfiltrate from the planet.[3] The Covenant dropship later ended up on Criterion and was left there by the ODSTs.[4] Imber was the homeworld of SPARTAN-II Kelly-087.[5]
Trivia
The colony was likely named after a village of the same name in the United Kingdom, used by the British Army as a training ground.
