Operational History

The 105th Drop Jet Platoon saw action against the Covenant Army during the Battle of Jericho VII in February 2535 where it was overrun and obliterated by a force of a thousand Unggoy soldiers.

The unit's annihilation would later be avenged when the offending Unggoy were eliminated by SPARTAN-IIs, led by Chief Petty Officer John-117, in the continuing skirmishes of Jericho VII.

Trivia

  • As platoons are not given permanent numerical designations, it is commonly assumed that the 105th was in fact the "105th's drop jet platoon", although a division would reasonably have more than one such unit.
  • Although it is assumed that the platoon is an ODST platoon due to the 'drop jet' title there is no actual evidence in the book that they are ODSTs. They could possibly be "parachutists" equipped with Parafoils instead. Artwork by Eddie Smith for Halo 2 illustrates a Pelican high in the Earth's atmosphere (evident by the blue sky turning into space). Its complement of marines along with an attaching warthog are released into the atmosphere - all with parachutes strapped to them.[2]
