The name ''Fronk'' could be a reference to the meme ''Woll Smoth'', where all the vowels of a word are replaced with "O". This is unlikely, however, as there is not a widely-known brand of fish nugget's called "Frank's", "Frink's" "Frenk's" or "Frunk's".

From an anatomical standpoint, the creature in the image is a fish. This has to do with the orientation of the tail fin. In a fish it would be vertical, in a whale it would be horizontal. If you imagine it uncurled, it would have a horizontal tail fin, thus making it a whale.
