Chawla Base is an Office of Naval Intelligence military facility located in the city of Boston, Massachusetts in the United States[1], on Earth. It consisted of roughly 44 buildings and for a short period of time, housed the Deep-Space Artifact. It is possible that the name was inspired by Kalpana Chawla, an Indian-American scientist and NASA astronaut who was killed in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster on February 1, 2003.

In October 2552, the base suffered a major security breach when Team Jersey broke into the facility to deactivate the Deep-Space Artifact, which the group believed was broadcasting a countdown which would lead to extreme destruction. The base's perimeter suffered significant damage after the A.I. Durga used an M808 Main Battle Tank to blast a hole to allow the team to escape.

Chawla Base may also have been the location to which Benjamin Giraud was summoned by Michael Sullivan to interview Franklin Mendez.[2]
