*Despite some theories, the ''Revenant'' was not simply "reverent" misspelled. On page 227, of ''[[Halo: Ghosts of Onyx]]'' it clearly says, "Both frigates, the ''Twilight Compunction'' and the '''''Revenant''''' filled and blurred the edges of the holographic viewers, their lateral lines powering." , and again, "The shields of the '''''Revenant''''' boiled and popped. The hull peeled away bubbling, as the beam penetrated through and through."

Revenant was a Covenant frigate. It was attached to the Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity as a vanguard vessel of High Charity. [1]

Background

During the Battle of Installation 05, the Revenant was one of the many recently Jiralhanae occupied ships that began attacking Sangheili-controlled ships as the Covenant Civil War, or the "Great Schism", as the Elites called it, began. The Revenant followed Jiralhanae Chieftain Gargantum's frigate, Twilight Compunction to attack the Elite held cruiser Incorruptible.

It followed the Incorruptible into deep space, but the appearance of the Bloodied Spirit under control of the SPARTAN-IIs was enough of a distraction for the Incorruptible to destroy the Revenant with an Energy Projector.

Trivia

The definition of a Revenant is "a visible ghost or animated corpse that is believed to return from the grave to terrorize the living."
