And yes, I'm aware that 343 has decided that all of the Spartan-II's have all worn their ''Halo 5: Guardians'' armor variants throughout their entire careers, which would seem to discount Fred and Linda. "Unexplained Spartan-II"
I think we need to explore the possibility that the "unexplained Spartan-II" is meant to be John. He's one of only four Spartans confirmed to have worn the Mark-VI, and the only one that we know was active in New Mombasa. Combining it with the bridge scene in Mission 2: On Top of the World, it creates a nice series of Easter eggs. Yes, it doesn't match up perfectly with the events of Metropolis, but neither does Palace Hotel. --
