Weapon coating

Weapon coatings are a technology used by the United Nations Space Command as part of the manufacturing process on their infantry-held firearms. They consist of metamaterial film that, when applied, protect weapons from damage when being used in vacuum or corrosive atmospheres. Coatings may also be used to apply skins to the weapon, altering them with custom camouflage patterns and imagery.[1]
The M6 series of Magnum pistols and Spartan-issued MA5D assault rifles both come with protective coatings as-standard.[2]
