Talk:World War II

Too over-flowery[edit]

This article is too over-flowery. I think we should just stick to the parts which are relevant to Halo. --UNSC Trooper 11:52, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

It is also poorly written and largely irrelevant. Why not just include the section concerning the formation of the UN and remove the rest, as it has little to do with Halo? 23:47, 1 August 2009 (UTC))

Cool, thanks for volunteering to do this work! CommanderTony
Yeah, it should only be what you would know from playing the games and reading the books.--99.237.222.73 22:43, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

This is pointless... It is hardly relevant to halo...--2K Dragon 13:49, November 13, 2009 (UTC)

I agree with 2k Dragon I mean, yes its informative but at the end of the day Halopedia ISNT a history book I think it should be removed. Who's neutral, who supports it and who opposes it is what I ask? --CookieMonstersayshello 04:09, 27 July 2011 (EDT)

It shouldn't necessarily be removed, but it should be rewritten without all the superfluous detail. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 04:23, 27 July 2011 (EDT)

I personally think it should necessarily be removed, as it has very little relevance to the Halo universe having said that WW2 is the time when the UN was created (and the "Space Command" is part of the UN). So yeah, its a tough one. --CookieMonstersayshello 05:16, 27 July 2011 (EDT)

Seriously[edit]

"In the level Crow's Nest one of the marines mentions that the base was used in "some 20th century war," possibly WWII."
— Anonymous IP

You ARE kidding right? The base is in Kenya. Were any battles fought in Kenya during World War II? -- CoH|Councillor]] Specops306 - Kora 'Morhek 02:47, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

no,there wasn't any battles in Kenya during WWII Voy101

and most of the technology in the crow's nest didn't even exist yet.Capt jim 16:56, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

The base's technology looks very much like that of the Cold War. Technically, that was a '20th Century war'. Also, there are nuclear blast doors, which I would assume suggest that the base had been constructed post-1945. 86.132.17.222 01:10, 3 March 2009 (UTC) And in fact, in the Crow's Nest entry it mentions the appearance of NATO stars (I haven't seen them myself, but then I wasn't really looking). 86.132.17.222 01:25, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Ammunition[edit]

.30 calibre can mean a lot of different ammunition types including 7.62x51mm which is a post-war cartridge. Is there any indication that .30-06 (7.62x63mm) is in the regular UNSC inventory?

Also the same should be noted with 90mm ammunition, as it is probably nothing like artillery shells used by anti-air and anti-tank weapons during the Second World War. Actually more so in this case than anti-personnel ammunition, as the munition would have been woefully outdated by the 26th century for anti-armour capability.TikkaT3Fanatic 20:47, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Notability[edit]

Does this article still meet Halopedia's notability requirements? -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 17:20, 8 February 2014 (EST)

Don't think so. The current information in the article are simply references to WWII. WWII, as a subject, has never been specifically referred to extensively by characters or any other content. In most if not all cases, they are just simple references. — subtank 20:00, 8 February 2014 (EST)

Agreed. I think this is the first time I've even seen this article linked in three years. Hardly relevant. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 23:50, 8 February 2014 (EST)

I would be in favour or trimming down the article, put not deleting it all together. The history section of the article is unnecessarily detailed. The "Legacy" section is much more relevant, particularly the part about the war resulting in the creation of the United Nations, without which there would be no UEG or UNSC. The end of the war and creation of the United Nations was considered important enough to warrant an entry for 1945 in the Halo Encyclopedia timeline page.--Emblem 1.jpg Rusty-112 Admin comm 13:40, 9 February 2014 (EST)

Or we could just move that part to the page of the United Nations. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 17:27, 9 February 2014 (EST)

I agree with Tucker. This would be more relevant on the United Nations page than as it's own article.--Spartacus TalkContribs 14:09, 13 February 2014 (EST)
