Talk:Tobias Fleming Shaw

Age and Titles[edit]

Due to the quality and angle of the picture in which we are revealed his birth and death date. We can assume that he was born on January 20, 2220 and died on November 10, 2327. However, I'm not quite certain that the dates, or more specifically, the years are correct. While I do believe that 2220 is accurate, I thought that it may in fact be 2228 and conversely, his date of death, 2327 or 2317. In either case, he lived to be ~100 years, which, isn't unlikely to assume given the time period.

Anyways, I took the liberty on looking up 'ScD, QeD, and FRS'. Now, for the first two, I was able to identify their meaning, but I'm at a loss on the meaning of 'FRS'. If anyone could find out the proper meaning, you'd be doing the Halo community, a small, yet admirable favor. darthbob100 02:02, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

ScD simply means that he has a doctorate in Science. QeD stands for Quantum Electrodynamics which would fit the study of Slipstream, and FRS means 'Fellow of the Royal Society'. This is an award given to citizens of the United Kingdom, which suggests that Shaw is British. --Chris1138 19:02, March 11, 2010 (UTC)Chris1138

  • I'm an idiot when it comes to chemistry and physics, but I found this. Not sure it has anything to do with FTL science, but it's worth a try. --UNSC Trooper File:unsctrooper_small.jpg|14px]] TalkMy Work 08:50, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Initials[edit]

What do "ScD, QeD, FRS" mean? I found them on the first line of the article and I can't make out what they stand for. - JEA13 [iTalk] 08:17, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

FRS, Fellow of the Royal Society --Halo face 02:54, February 8, 2010 (UTC)Halo Face

Which is which[edit]

How does everyone know that the one on the right is Shaw and the one on the left is Fujikawa? Byakuya Truelight 19:59, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

You're joking, right? --Chris1138 20:37, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

I didn't think it needed stating, but...I don't think we can treat a ten year old snippet of what is clearly meant to be a joke as canon. Not to mention the uncomfortable 2006 casual homophobia. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 18:20, 30 January 2016 (EST)

How do we know its a 'joke' though. I mean nothing is saying its a joke. Only that Joe Staten said not to ask. But nothing saying that it isnt canon. And the "In all seriousness" part could refer to the fact that they strayed from the question. I admit I even say that when I get off topic. But thats kinda how I read it to be. :)
Plus maybe thats how Shaw and Fuji talked to each other. I mean some close friends do talk to each other like that its not out of the question. - CIA391 (talk) 23:42, 30 January 2016 (GMT)
I think it would be better to mention it in the trivia sections. Even if it was canon, it's a rather insignificant detail in their lives. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 18:59, 30 January 2016 (EST)
