Talk:2558

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

Is there any confirmation that Escalation actually takes place this year? The summary says it spins out of the events of H4, but that just means it takes place post-H4, not necessarily post-Spartan Ops, or if so, in the same year.--Hawki (talk) 21:10, 19 October 2013 (EDT)

Spirit of fire[edit]

Assuming it's 2558, the spirit of fire doesn't seem to drift into a planet to me... just near... and it mentions one infection form when it seems there are two. Erickyboo (talk) 00:34, 19 June 2014 (EDT)

I actually wonder where the "collision course with a planet" thing came from. The planet doesn't seem to be getting any closer in the several panels it's seen in, so if the point was to show the Spirit approaching the planet it wasn't conveyed very well. For all we know the planet could just be one of the ones the ship is drifting by but still safely missing. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 15:34, 9 July 2014 (EDT)

Operation: ACADEMIC?[edit]

In the February 10 entry, the Halo 4 LE Infinity Briefing Packet is cited as a source for "Operation: ACADEMIC" being the name of Majestic's and Crimson's artifact retrieval operation. Where exactly in the packet are this operation, and the Feb 10 date, referenced? All I could find was Operation: ALL-SEEING EYE in Palmer's operation note. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 02:39, 19 September 2014 (EDT)

ACADEMIC certainly isn't referenced in the briefing packet, it's not from the game, and it doesn't seem to have come from any promotional material (i.e. websites or trailers) either. I say give it a few more days. If no source turns up the reference should be removed as fanon. --Our vengeance is at hand. Gravemind.svg (Talk to me.) 14:36, 20 September 2014 (EDT)
I remember in Halo Waypoint forums someone mentioned not all who bought the H4 Limited Edition had the same briefing packet. Mission Briefings. --They're coming. They're hungry. (talk) 15:02, 20 September 2014 (EDT)
Yeah the Mission Briefings included in the LE packet differ for a lot of owners. There's Chatterbox, Three card monte, Landgrab, Academic, and All-Seeing Eye. Lord Susto 15:18, 20 September 2014 (EDT)

Hunt The Truth[edit]

In Hunt the Truth only 1 date was mentioned in the following post.
http://huntthetruth.tumblr.com/post/114373750803/the-end-is-only-the-beginning
"Join me next Sunday 3/29 as we dig deeper."
This translated to "March 29" for those unaware.(the only thing to note would be that in 2558 March 29 is not a Sunday, but that can be ignored for the fact that either Benjamin Giraud is on another planet and the days are slightly different and it was to help us understand when the 1st episode was coming out)

This would mean that cause Benjamin made the Primer after the events of Episode 5. Master Chief is already doing his own thing. And the anomaly's in the Galaxy were happening.

Now if we pair this with other existing canon. Petras Appearance makes sense in regards to escalations.
And if we match it up with Halo 5 Blue Team level. Where its 8 months after Halo 4. Would be Sometime in March 2558. But its before he goes AWOL.
So this means Master Chief goes AWOL sometime in March. Then Hunt the Truth Starts.

So would it be acceptable to put Hunt the Truth around the Month of March after the Chief goes AWOL? Or do you lot not agree with my proposition.--CIA391 (talk) 22:31, 20 June 2015 (GMT)

With Lasky saying in the E3 footage that Master Chief just was declared AWOL this morning, it is fairly evident that Blue Team doesn't go AWOL until September or October of 2558, since Lasky would have to be saying this after the mission on Kamchatka to retrieve Halsey, which has to happen post-Operation: ATHENA.—This unsigned comment was made by Japeth555 (talkcontribs). I do say though that considering the fact being declared AWOL and implying are two totally different things.
While I did say AWOL above. Hunt the Truth doesnt actually say hes awol directly only this "He's off being creative. He could be off the grid." I just thought it meant that he was AWOL. Though that line could mean anything. From ONI missions, to plainly doing his own thing.
Throughout the entire of escalations(bar the Next 72 hours for obvious reasons) they kept asking what the Master Chief is doing. Kinda supporting the idea. And that is as early as March 5th 2558. Nothing has changed. Despite how much easier it would be. Sometimes I just wish we got a direct statement on this. Would stop me complaining about that one date mentioned in Hunt the Truth.-CIA391 (talk) 22:36, 17 September 2015 (GMT)

Could I ask what date was mentioned? I haven't listened to HTT in a while. -- Topal the Pilot Blueteam.png (Talk|Contribs) 17:54, 17 September 2015 (EDT)
Link is above. It was in a blog post saying that 3/29 was when Episode 1 was gonna come out.
And it works with 8 months from the Master Chiefs ending of Halo 4. Though with what Hunt the Truth said. That might not even matter.-CIA391 (talk) 23:10, 17 September 2015 (GMT)

The 8 months thing comes from GameInformer's story, right? Spartan Ops ended in February of '58. 8 months later would be October. It seems clear that "8 months after Halo 4" meant 8 months after Spartan Ops —This unsigned comment was made by Japeth555 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Though with what I said. Hunt the Truth may not apply for that. As with what was said above. Hunt the Truth doesnt state directly they are AWOL. Only saying they are possibly doing their own thing. With all things considered, its possible they were still doing the stuff they were doing at the end of the Next 72 hours in Escalations. And I bet Hood wasnt the only person not happy with that. Actually giving ONI a reason for the Master Chief to look good.
We have a date for when Blue team is considered officially AWOL for sure. But that doesnt effect Hunt the Truth just yet. - CIA391 (talk) 23:34, 17 September 2015 (GMT)

I'm pretty convinced all the Hunt the Truth stuff takes place before the Argent Moon mission.Sith Venator Mega Blastoise.gif (Dank Memes) 19:49, 17 September 2015 (EDT)
