Podnet

"Podnets" are a kind of localised communications network developed by humanity. They are antiquated in nature, and predominantly used by Outer Colony frontier communities and urban youth communities on more industrialised worlds as an alternative to the more heavily monitored ChatterNet and Waypoint networks. After the Created uprising in late 2558, podnets exploded in popularity due to the Created's ability to easily surveil previously-popular chatter devices.[1] Spartans are able to tap into local podnets for intelligence-gathering purposes via use of Lethbridge Industrial's "Metashak Tallyho" communications devices.[2]
