Helljumpers is a Halo fiction video part of the ONI Archive video series that goes over the actions of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, particularly those of Alpha-Nine.[1]

Summary[edit]

The video takes the form of File:CHELAN_20200921,[1], a file part of Director Schaefer's "content series" in ONI Section 2's public awareness campaign regarding the UNSC's role in colonial security. Aimed at educating UEG citizens on the history, evolution, and application of the Spartan Program.[2]

Transcript[edit]

Scenes from Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo: Fireteam Raven, The Life, and Halo 3: ODST play during the narration.

  • Comms Officer: "When reflecting on the incredible challenges humanity has endure ever the past several decades, it can be easy to fixate on the Spartans, heroes that in many ways larger than life, and who seemingly accomplish the impossible time and time again. But while the Spartans have rightly earned our unending adoration, there are countless others on the front lines of the UNSC's heroic efforts who are equally as deserving of our gratitude and respect. A perfect example of this are the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, or ODSTs."
  • Comms Officer: "Ofter referred to as "helljumpers", these fearless men and women stand in the face of both risk and reason, hurtling through a planet's atmosphere and slamming onto its surface in human entry vehicles called drop pods. ODSTs are often called in when the hour is darkest and the outlook bleakest - raining fire down from the heavens in a desperate effort to turn the tide of battle - or behind enemy lines to strike an opponent where they're most vulnerable. For these indomitable souls, "Feet First into Hell" isn't just a motto, it's a way of life."
  • Comms Officer: "One of the most recent, notable examples came on October 20, 2552, when the ODST squad Alpha-Nine, landed in New Mombasa on Earth to undertake a mission of utmost significance. Led by squad leader Edward Buck, and ONI operative Veronica Dare, Alpha-Nine dropped into Covenant-occupied territory to retrieve an asset vital to the UNSC war effort. Names like "Dutch", "Romeo", "Mickey" and "the Rookie", would become the stuff of legends throughout their ranks; their heroism helping ensure humanity's defense of Earth and further solidifying the ODST's place on the battlefield."

ONI Screen activates, showing the file name "File:CHELAN_20200921", and a wave form of a "Comms Producer: M. Angelo". With the words "Transmission suspended" in the center of the screen.

  • M. Angelo: "Hey, Parker's been trying to get ahold of you says you have a call on thread seven."
  • Comms Officer: "Sorry, I had some things come up. Tell him I'll log in now."

The Comms Officer logs into a different server

  • Comms Officer: "Authorization Bravo-Six-Zero-Eight-Four."
  • Comms AI: "Clearance?"
  • Comms Officer: "Patheon. Thread seven."

The call is revealed that it comes from Codename: FIXER.

  • Codename: FIXER: "So, is this a standard section 2 response time? Or am I just special?"
  • Comms Officer: "I'm sorry, can I help you?"
  • Codename: FIXER: "I wouldn't be calling otherwise. I need to know where you got the assets."
  • Comms Officer: "I'm not sure what you mean..."
  • Codename: FIXER: "Look, I'm not some backwater colonist waiting for you to be spoonfeed them some patriotism. Manipulation is your department, agent, finding information is mine. I already know what you have, I just need to know where you got it."

ONI Screen deactivates, and the Halo 3: ODST logo appears saying "Available now" below it.
