Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya in the East African Protectorate on Earth. The Nairobi Road and a railway line known as Uganda Railway running through Voi connected Nairobi to the coastal city of Mombasa.
Originally, the area where Nairobi would later be built was an uninhabited swamp. In 1899, a supply depot for the Uganda Railway was built in the area, and soon became the railway's headquarters. In 1905, Nairobi replaced Mombasa as the capital of what was then referred to as the British Protectorate. With the construction of the Mombasa Tether in the 23rd century, and the ensuing rise of importance of the city of New Mombasa, it is unknown if Nairobi still holds its position as the capital of the country.
