The ''Mikpramu'' [[design pattern]] of Phantom is based on ancient [[Sangheili]] designs,{{Ref/Reuse|Enc22}} sporting a more traditional appearance inspired by aquatic ray-like predators found on [[Sangheili colonies]]. They were seldom used during the [[Covenant]] due to the design being considered inelegant by [[San'Shyuum]] legislators, with the {{Pattern|Ru'swum|Phantom|}} and later {{Pattern|Kez'katu|Phantom|}}s manufactured by the [[Assembly Forges]] instead preferred.{{Ref/Reuse|HW}} With the Covenant's [[Great Schism|collapse]] in [[2552]] and the emergence of a Sangheili [[Blooding Years|civil war]], Sangheili warlords instead turned to independent manufacturers such as [[Achoem Weapons]], [[Kolaar Manufactorum]], and [[Malurok Armory]] to begin supplying replacement Phantoms instead. ==Operational history==
While the ''Mikpramu''-pattern Phantom saw service as early as the [[Battle of Earth]],{{Ref/Reuse|HITutorial}} it was not catalogued by the [[United Nations Space Command]] until [[2557]]. The craft did not see widespread service until the aftermath of the end of the [[Human-Covenant War]] due to dwindling numbers of {{Pattern|Ru'swum|Phantom|}} and {{Pattern|Kez'katu|Phantom}}s.{{Ref/Reuse|HW}} Various factions—most notably [[Jul 'Mdama's Covenant]] and the [[Swords of Sanghelios]]—called upon allied [[Sangheili colonies|colonies]] and renovated long-abandoned manufacturing facilities to produce the dropship, along with other war matériel.{{Ref/Reuse|HW}} The ''Mikpramu'' was used in multiple battles, including the [[Battle of Kamchatka]] and various engagements in the [[Blooding Years]].{{Ref/Reuse|fodder}} By October 2558, ''Mikpramu'' Phantoms were often used in [[Warzone]] [[War Games|simulations]] aboard the {{UNSCShip|Infinity}}.{{Ref/Reuse|H5G}}

The stealth ''Mikpramu'' program undertaken by Kolaar Manufactorum resulted in at least one operational prototype that was, in [[2559#November|November 2559]], covertly used by [[Thel 'Vadam]] in order to covertly exfiltrate from [[Vadam Keep]] on Sanghelios without being detected by the Created. To achieve this, he had five other spacecraft launch in unison, distracting the Created's patrolling [[Phaeton]] and [[Aethra]] aircraft in order to leave airspace around Kolaar free for launch.{{Ref/Reuse|OC3}} 

During the [[Banished]] [[Battle of Suban|invasion]] of [[Suban]] in [[2560]], a ''Mikpramu''-pattern Phantom was used by a joined Sword/Spartan taskforce in a surprise attack to the Banished-occupied [[Mines of Shua'ree]]. [[:Category:Images by Alex Cunningham|Alex Cunningham's]] original concept art for the Phantom, produced for ''[[Halo 5: Guardians]]'', lists the dropship as capable of carrying 28 passengers (of [[Mgalekgolo|Hunter]] size, or smaller), 4 [[Ghost]]s, or 1 [[Wraith]]. For the final canon, this number was changed to 20 passengers.
