On April 2525, Langston was stationed on {{UNSCShip|Atlas}} under the command of then-[[Second Lieutenant]] [[Antonio Silva]].{{Ref/Novel|Id=HTFC5|TF|Chapter=5}} He was one of two ODSTs accidentally killed by [[John-117]] on the 22 April, while two others were severely injured, after a fight in the ship's gym.{{Ref/Reuse|HTFORC7}}

Before the deployment to [[Ariel]] for [[Operation: FIRESIDE]] on [[2552|January 8, 2552]], Langston's death at the hands of John-117 in 2525 led Brimley and [[Kojo Agu|Romeo]] into an argument on the [[SPARTAN-II Program|Spartans]]' fighting prowess, and eventually into a full-on fight, in which he overpowered Romeo before [[Taylor H. Miles|Dutch]] intervened.{{Ref/Reuse|HHI1}}

During the [[Battle of Installation 04]] on [[2552#September|September 20, 2552]], a bitter Silva revealed to [[Captain]] [[Jacob Keyes]] that the fight that left Langston dead was staged to test the Spartan's capabilities.{{Ref/Reuse|HTFC5}} The story of Langston's death was also later shared to [[Benjamin Giraud]] by [[Anthony Petrosky]], who had been present to witness the fight.
