Ushuaia Armory is a defense development and manufacturing firm that produces matériel for the United Nations Space Command. It was based on the planet Reach.[1][note 1]

Known developments

Armor

In 2535, after a development period at the firm's Siófok Firing Range, Ushuaia produced the AA variant of the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor.[1] This helmet is an improved version of the helmet worn by the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers that was designed for and adopted by the UNSC Army airborne. The helmet was also used by the Spartans, most notably Kat-B320. Ushuaia also originally spearheaded and refined all MJOLNIR armor systems that were designed for airborne combat actuation. With the destruction of Reach, Naphtali Contractor Corporation acquired the original designs.[2]

Ushuaia performed a substantial amount of work on the development of the UNSC Marine Corps Battle Dress Uniform, particularly the CH252 helmet.[1] Ushuaia may not have been solely responsible for the BDU's development, as Misriah Armory also manufactures the CH252 helmet. However, it is possible that Ushuaia developed the helmet, while Misriah is responsible for its manufacture.[3]

Vehicles

Ushuaia was responsible for the development of the D96-TCE Albatross heavy dropship. The Albatross can transport large quantities of supplies, up to fifty personnel, or several vehicles. The dropship can seemingly also serve as a mobile command post.[1]

The firm manufactures the M9 Wolverine Main Anti-Aircraft Tank.[1][note 1]

Ushuaia was also responsible for the production of Single Occupant Exoatmospheric Insertion Vehicles.[1]

Trivia

Ushuaia is the capital city of Argentina's Tierra del Fuego province. It is considered the southernmost city in the world.

Note

  1. ^ a b In an interview with Gamespot, Halo Wars lead writer Graeme Devine claimed that the Martian factory responsible for producing the Wolverine was bombed by Insurrectionists in 2535, halting further production of the vehicle. Despite this, Halo: The Essential Visual Guide establishes Ushuaia Armory as the Wolverine's manufacturer. While it is possible that Ushuaia Armory maintained a facility on Mars, it seems that Devine's explanation has been ignored outright, rendering it non-canonical.
