Operational history

Following the its commissioning, the Panama was deployed to defend a vital fuel and power processing station against an attack by Covenant remnant forces deploying from the CAS-class assault carrier Purveyor of Virtue. The Panama deployed its energy-based armaments against the carrier to little effect, but the Purveyor of Virtue was unable to retaliate with its full power, for fear of destroying the objective it was intended to exploit.[1]

At some point, the Panama encountered a network of Banished Gorespike cannons after being separated from its battle group.[2][4] The frigate was forced into the cannons' killbox by squadrons of Banished hunter-killer warships. Attempting to buy time for the frigate to find cover or evacuate its supplies and crew, Spartan ground teams were deployed in a last-ditch effort to cripple or destroy the control node for the cannon network.[4]

Production notes

The Panama features in the skybox of the Halo Infinite multiplayer maps Deadlock and Highpower.

Trivia

  • The UNSC Panama is presumably named after the country of Panama.
  • On Highpower, when either team scores in objective-based game modes, the ship will fire its laser at the CAS-class assault carrier in the distance.
