(The article is currently about the particular storage device used on Reach, which does not appear in Initiation. Maybe the article Should the article be adjusted to be about the type of storage unit instead?)

"Get the Package to the Autumn!"
Carter-A259 to SPARTAN-B312

The Package was the code name for a data storage unit used by Dr. Catherine Halsey to store a fragment of the AI Cortana. During the Fall of Reach, Noble Team's final objective, and ultimately that of SPARTAN-B312, was to get the Package, and the sensitive data it contained, off the planet on the UNSC Pillar of Autumn.[1]

The Package was a reinforced metal cylinder with a hollow section in the center, which contained a data crystal chip. The fragment of Cortana that was within the Package contained the "latchkey discovery" made by Laszlo Sorvad and the information decrypted from the Forerunner artifact below SWORD Base. Because Noble Six's Mark V[B] armor lacked the neural interface upgrades necessary to integrate an AI with the MJOLNIR's systems, Cortana must be carried via the Package.[2]
