The Path Kethona Forerunners were an ancient relative of Forerunners. After the Forerunner-Precursor War ended, the ancestors of these Forerunners disobeyed their commanders orders in order to invoke the Mantle. Some were executed on the ships and others were in turn abandoned on an unidentified planet in the Path Kethona galaxy. These Forerunners were the only ones to survive, due to Forerunners not wanting to return to the Ecumene because of the shame, fear and knowledge of their actions.[1]
Species
Following is a list of different Forerunner species, and possibly genera, that evolved naturally or artifically on the unknown world in the Kath Pethona galaxy. All life was likely wiped out when the Master Builder fired the Omega Halo in the direction of the Kath Pethona galaxy.

Plant Forerunners
These creatures were genetically altered on a large scale to become plants and mosses. The plants would serve as a food source for the herbivoral Forerunners, which in turn supply the sentient Forerunners with meat and thus being able to maintain a lasting biosphere. They are described as being scrubby and set low to resist the wind. Some are in the form of grey-green bushes and others have stalks topped by spiky leaves.
The Moss or Lichen Forerunners are orange and fibrous. They apparently can move on their own and scratch markings in rocks with their roots from memory.
