Biography

Malcolm-059 was abducted and conscripted into the SPARTAN-II program by Dr. Catherine Halsey in 2517 when he was just six years old. Malcolm was taken to Reach, where he was trained by the artificial intelligence Déjà and Chief Petty Officer Franklin Mendez along with the rest of the SPARTAN children. He was one of the thirty-three SPARTAN trainees who survived the augmentation procedures without being crippled.

During the Fall of Reach on August 30, 2552, Malcolm was assigned to Red Team under the command of Senior Chief Petty Officer Frederic-104. While en route to the surface of Reach, Red Team's Pelican, Bravo 001, was depressurized by pursuing Seraphs and its pilot, Mitchell, was killed. Red Team was forced to perform a high-altitude jump to the surface of the planet. Malcolm, along with three other SPARTANs, was killed on impact with the ground.

Later, Fred salvaged an unbroken pressure seal from Malcolm's Mark V MJOLNIR armor. Though he loathed doing so, Fred decided that "it would dishonor his fallen comrade not to use his gift of the spare part."[1]

Trivia

Throughout the Halo: Fall of Reach comic book series, Linda-058's body suit and MJOLNIR armor are often erroneously emblazoned with the tag "-059".
