Iliad was a Charon-class light frigate used by the Insurrectionists in the Eridanus system. She served as the flagship of Colonel Robert Watts during the 2510s.[1] Her namesake was an epic poem by the ancient Greek poet Homer.

Operational history[edit]

When the UNSC Navy arrived in the Eridanus system system to crush the rebel forces during Operation: TREBUCHET in 2513, Iliad led the Insurrectionist fleet against them in a battle over Eridanus II. During the battle, Iliad provided cover for another rebel vessel, the Gateway, which was having problems with her slipspace drive. Iliad fired towing cables at a UNSC cruiser and then accelerated, tearing the ship in half. Iliad then dragged the other half into another cruiser, destroying it as well. Soon after, Gateway and Iliad jumped into slipspace and rendezvoused with the rest of the rebel fleet at predesignated coordinates.[1]

On September 24, 2517, Watts and his troops used Iliad to intercept the cargo vessel UNSC Dartmouth en route to Eridanus II and used Pelicans to seize and board the craft.[2]
