Gruntpocalypse is a gametype in Halo: Reach Firefight where players kill oncoming waves of Grunts (Unggoy).

Overview

Gruntpocalypse is similar to the Bonus Round featured in Halo 3: ODST Firefight. Likewise, it involves a massive army of Unggoy of various ranks that will spawn continuously.

All load-outs consist of the DMR and M6 pistol for easy headshots. (hence the use of 'Grunt Birthday Party' skull.) A custom red skull is used during Gruntpocalypse which enhances sight and hearing of the Grunts to make the game a little harder.

Trivia

  • In Halo: Reach, Gruntpocalypse is regarded as a way to earn a high amount of Cr over a relatively short period of time.
  • These Grunts are much less likely to run away when injured. However, they will still run if their leaders and allies fall beside them.
  • The game type is deceptively difficult on higher difficulties such as Heroic or Legendary.
  • Every Grunt squad (4 in a squad usually) that is 'spawned' usually has one Grunt with a Fuel Rod Gun or Plasma Launcher.
  • The most dangerous grunts are the Grunt Heavies carrying Fuel Rod Guns, as they can kill you extremely quickly.
  • Unlike on other Playlists, there are no Suicide Grunts, due to the fact that there are no "Leader" type units.
  • The Usage of Armorlock Armor Ability when playing this Gametype is recomended- Grunts throw Plasma Grenades often, and Overcharge frequently.
