Gek is a Sangheili member of the Covenant remnant.

Biography

During the Requiem campaign of early 2558, Gek greeted Jul 'Mdama as he arrived at his location in a Forerunner structure on Requiem, informing him that they were still preparing "the shrine". Jul then brought Dr. Henry Glassman, who had offered his knowledge in exchange for his life.[1] Gek was later tasked to watch over Dr. Glassman as he tried to work on their Forerunner "shrine". When Jul came to check on his progress, Glassman got frustrated and started to walk toward Jul, Gek quickly pulled his tether to get him to stop.[2] Joining 'Mdama on watching the assault on Galileo Base by their Covenant faction, Gek was informed that 'Mdama was only trying to create a show of attempting to recover the Didact's Gift, making it seem important to the humans.[3].

Back at their base of operations somewhere in the tunnel complex of Sniper Alley, Glassman managed to activate something in the shrine, prompting all the present Sangheili (save Jul) to bow before the artifact. With his captors distracted, Glassman escaped from the antechamber. After the artifact's energy sphere rejected Jul, the Sangheili Commander directed his fury at a now-gone Glassman; half-dozen Sangheili went to pursue the scientist in the tunnels but Jul held Gek back. Stating that Glassman's escape was unacceptable, Gek reassured Jul that he would deal with the matter personally, leaving Jul and his two guards alone with the artifact. Gek soon found Glassman's discarded collar and activated a remote detonator for Glassman's explosive harness, but Spartan Gabriel Thorne managed to pull off the harness in time and tossed it toward the Sangheili pursuing Glassman. Gek arrived in time to witness the ensuing carnage and pick up the trail of the fleeing humans.[4]

Appearance and personality

Gek harbors a deep-seated hatred for humanity, and Spartans in particular. Sometime prior to the Requiem campaign, Gek suffered a wound which blinded his left eye and left a large scar across his face.[5] Eleven UNSC dog tags are attached to the left side of Gek's harness, likely taken from soldiers he's personally killed. He often forgoes wearing a helmet.
