Charlie Company was a United Nations Space Command Marine unit stationed on Reach. The company was divided into two subordinate units, Gamma 1 and Gamma 5, under command of First Lieutenants Jake Chapman and Buckman, respectively.[1]
Operational history[edit]
Fall of Reach[edit]

During the Fall of Reach, Charlie Company was ordered by Admiral Whitcomb to get the Nova bombs, weapons so powerful that they could turn the tides in space battles and had enough explosive energy to destroy whole planets.[2] However, they were attacked by the Covenant before they could use the bombs. The surviving Marines held off the enemy for more than an hour with Warthogs, Scorpions, and turrets.[2] Lieutenant Jake Chapman, also known as Gamma 1, was ordered to send the majority of his force in an attempt to flank the enemy. Under attack, he called for air support. By the time Frederic-104 and Red Team arrived, the forest they passed through had been leveled by UNSC bombers, and he assumed Buckman had been killed. In fact, Chapman and most of his men survived, and fell back to Facility Alpha 331 to join Gamma 5.
