The M290 All-Terrain Vehicle, commonly known simply as the Mongoose and sometimes dubbed the mothergoose, is the successor model of the M274 Mongoose all-terrain vehicle, manufactured by AMG Transport Dynamics primarily for service within the United Nations Space Command.[1][2]
Specifications
Design details
It is larger and has more armor than the older M274, in addition to featuring a rear-facing seat for passengers.[2] Both the civilian and military versions are available with a variety of upgrade packages, including armored body panels, improved suspension systems, and alternate engines. The civilian version is not rated to carry Spartans without risking damage to the frame.[1]
Variants
- M290-M Gungoose – The result of an M290 Mongoose quad bike fitted with twin grenade launchers.[3]
- Corp Gungoose – An up-armored variant used by Liang Dortmund Corporation security forces to combat insurrectionists that features extra armor.[3]
- Urban Gungoose – A variant used by UNSC Army scouts, UNSC Air Force security patrols, and Spartan recon teams that features better armor than the Corp variant.[3]
- ONI Gungoose – A variant used by the Office of Naval Intelligence that features better armor than the Urban variant and grenades with timed fuses that allow them to ricochet. The passenger is also granted an increased supply of M9 fragmentation grenades.[3]
Trivia
The Gungoose was originally called the Wargoose during Halo 5: Guardians' development.[4][3]
