The Covenant Supply Case has appeared throughout the Halo series as a device that has stored the weapons for Covenant encampments. It holds four hand held sized weapons, or just two larger weapons. It has been speculated that it also acts as a device to recharge plasma based weaponry, as all weapons found in it have been fully charged, but this may just be circumstantial.

Function

These crates are used by the Covenant much like the Gun Shelves on the Cairo Station. On Installation 04 the more prepared Covenant have these crates locked from Human activities. However, on Installation 05 and High Charity these containers are left open. They carry any Covenant weapon and it is widely thought that the Covenant have a recharge device on these crates making them essential for operations. Others think that they are simply used to supply Covenant ground forces with weaponry. The crates are nearly identical to the early Covenant Communication Nodes and possibly they are actually modified Supply Cases. In the novels, namely Halo: The Flood, Flood Infection Forms have also been known to hide in crates and surprise those who open them, requiring inspections on all crates.

Common weapons held by Covenant Weapons Holders include but are not limited to: Plasma Rifles, Beam Rifles, Brute Plasma Rifles, Brute Spikers, Covenant Carbines, Energy Swords, Fuel Rod Guns, Plasma Pistols, Brute Shots, Needlers, and Brute Maulers.

Dimensions

  • Height: 1.82 meters (9.22 feet)

Trivia

  • In Halo: Combat Evolved, the supply cases could not be moved as they are considered scenery objects. If a player rammed into it with a Warthog, threw grenades at it or whatever, it would stay in place, unmoved, although several are seen tipped over on the level 343 Guilty Spark.
  • In Halo 2 and 3, they were made movable. Even the simplest melee attack would move it. In addition, tipping a Covenant Supply Case on top of an enemy in Halo 2 or Halo 3 will kill them instantly much like it would if you ran them over with a vehicle. This suggests that the crates are very heavy, though still considerably easy to move for a Spartan-II such as the Master Chief.
  • In Halo 2 and possibly Halo 3, it is possible to get a weapon out of a flipped over case, without flipping it back over. Simply jump on top of it and crouch. You should then get the "Press X (RB or LB in Halo 3) to pick up (weapon name here)" message
