Vitruvia is the seventh track of the Halo Season One Original Soundtrack.
Overview[edit]
The track opens with a low, pulsating synth bass and a high, ethereal synth pad, with a subtle, ticking percussive element creating an ominous atmosphere. Soon, sharper percussive hits and rhythmic synth elements join, creating a sense of urgency as more sustained synth/string textures swell in the background. A more defined, though still tense, melodic motif emerges, carried by brass and strings, then developing into a full, heroic orchestral theme. Soaring high strings and powerful brass carry this majestic melody, supported by driving percussion, building to a dramatic peak. The intensity drops, pulsing strings and synth maintain the urgency.
A powerful male choir suddenly enters, singing evocative "Saaa" and "Thaa" style vocalisations, adding an immense, grandure dimension while orchastra swells beneath, supported by impactful and forced percussion. The choir evolves alongside the orchastra—strings swells, string ostinatos, and synth—become prominent, as the choir and orchestra resolves, leaving the pulsing synth only.
The main melody enters, starts with impactful percussion, then grows into a grander melody, carried by low strings, brass, and choir, takes on a more measured but still powerful feeling, with high strings providing counterpoint. The music then launches into another insistent build-up, layering instruments and increasing in intensity, before returning to a powerful, triumphant restatement of the main heroic theme by the full orchestra and choir. The piece concludes with a final, decisive orchestral impact and a lingering fade-out.
