Talk:Unidentified master gunnery sergeant

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

Untitled[edit]

Also, Master Gunnery Sergeants and Sergeants Major are pretty equals, and since Johnson and Gunns talk none of them saluted, said 'sir', or had any formals what-so-ever means that they are equals. (Although enlisted personell are forbidden to salute other enlisted personel nor are they allowed to call each other "sir" but some still do it out of respect)

Enlisted men are never saluted in the context that applies here. -ED 05:35, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Yea, I'm changing his name to Master Gunnery Sergeant (Armorer, name unknown) because "Master Guns" isn't a proper term for a Master Sergeant, even if his last name is Gunns... and he's an armorer. For the record, Master Sergeants are informally referred to as "Top Hat" or just "Top," so that's not it. Anyway, if the title came from Bungie and not just people who didn't know assuming, I guess changing it wouldn't be a big deal (everybody's calling a SgtMaj-in the field, no doubt-a Sgt and nobody's had their necks broken, so terrible accuracy isn't exactly Halo's specialty...) but I'd still like to see it from Bungie, not an ignorant (but well-meaning) fan. --RoadDoggFL 04:52, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

A Master Gunnery Sergeant is the exact same pay grade as a Sergeant Major in the United States Marines.

And it is common to hear US Marines calling Master Gunnery Sergeants "Master Gunns".

Changed the article's name to "Master Gunnery Sergeant (Armory)". As most people would know who this refers to and he is yet to have a name, I think this is the best solution. Probably still some leftovers though. Manticore 20:12, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

His name is Master Sergeant Gunns, or something. HBO says so. -71.107.208.57

"Just what this place needs! a couple of real live targets!" (In Co-Op) I never heard this one before because when me and another get to him he gets killed.--ME The Great 18:31, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Death[edit]

For an experienced and high-ranked NCO, Master Gunns died really easily. I saw a Marine Private (or maybe it was a Corporal, I'm not sure) kill three Elites in Halo 2 before. Arby116

Who is he?[edit]

Any chance that Master Gunns is Nolan Byrne? He's the same rank as Johnson, and they seem to have some sort of friendly banter when they meet.

Nolan Byrne has a Irish accent though... --Sgt.T.N.Biscuits 00:04, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
