Dead?[edit]

I saw that at memorial you see a glimpse of a picture of a sargent that looks like Reynolds. Also how do you know he servived. HydramanFile:BR_Firing.gif|30px]]EDITINGS 13:45, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

perhaps he canonically died on Floodgate, when all the infection forms attack him

That Marine is random every time, so it may not be him. You don't need to put a point behind what you say here, by the way. Smoke My pageMy talk

Nope he must of died on floodgate because it IS the same marine which is reynolds and you can hear....... Female Marine: "Sergeant come on!"

than the flood come........ Reynolds:"No NO NOOOOO" as he gets infected and a marine starts shooting him, when hes dead, .......Female Marine: "What are you doing! that was the sergeant!

"........ Male marine:"That WAS the sergeant" He DOES appear on the Ark and the Covenant but he has NO lines and Sergeant Stacker is accually leading the platoon he is in so him on the Ark and the Covenant is a glitchGunnery Sargeant Stacker 07:00, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

thanks. I did think I never saw Reynolds at the end.

A lot of people were not seen in the end. Besides, there are other Marines with the exact same face. I've once saw two Reynolds at the same time. BPL 23:52, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Mombasa[edit]

I've heard Sgt. Reynolds refer to the Scarab in New Mombasa a few times now... "This beats fighting a Scarab any day!", as said on Crow's Nest. I just walked by him again a second ago, and I think he said to me, "Hey, remember me? From New Mombasa?" Think he could have been one of the Marines you fight with there? -Stigma-231 Sword Wielding Minors and Shining Blue Spiders 01:45, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Doubt it. Could just be an easter egg. -Omar-065
Actually, i think it's quite possible. The marines there were destroyed, but he may have escaped. I remember that some escaped, right? BPL 23:51, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

"Hey, remember me? From New Mombasa?"...I'm pretty sure the voice that said that during Crows Nest was Corporal Perez (he's the marine that meets you at the bottom of Sergeant Banks' building during "Metropolis").Domos-022 07:39, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Quotes[edit]

Can his quotes be a separate article? BPL 23:50, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Done. --Dragonclaws(talk) 00:42, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

77th Regiment?[edit]

"He is assigned to the 77th Marine Regiment stationed at Voi, Kenya."

Is there a source on this, other than that the 77th was featured in the Believe campaign? If not, we can't be sure about whether Reynolds was a part of the 77th, or if it's even really canon. Unless its existence has been confirmed elsewhere. --Jugus 06:45, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

Picture[edit]

I dont like the pic, it makes him look to mean, after all reynolds is a d**** and nobody likes him hes just a shadow of Pete Stacker!!!!Gunnery Sargeant Stacker 06:47, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

Uh... so? Are you here to discuss the article, or are you just bringing back discussions that are long dead? SmokeSound off! 08:40, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

Discrepancy[edit]

Within the article it had previously said at certain points that Reynolds was being held atop the bridge by a Brute Captain Major and a Brute Bodyguard. Since what rank of Brute he is being held by differs situationally, what should the rank being mentioned in the article be? - Turn out the Lights, 00:06, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

ODST?[edit]

When did he appear in H3 ODST? It's not mentioned anywhere in the article other than he appears canonically in the game. Bioniclepluslotr 08:30, 27 August 2012 (EDT)

I'm pretty sure Reynolds is an ODST as well, since he appears in The Covenant wearing an ODST suit. Sona 10:23, 12 November 2012 (EST)

Possible Death[edit]

Reynolds is last placed in the factory complex/ forward operating base seen in The Storm and Floodgate, and a Marine Sergeant with Reynolds' voice most definitely perishes canonically in the following scripted dialogue sequence:

(taken from our level transcript)

Marine Sergeant (COM): "All squads, report!"

Marine (COM): "Multiple contacts, unknown hostiles."

Marine (COM): "There! Over there! We're surrounded, Sergeant!"

Marine (COM): "Aaaaah!" Sergeant (COM): "Fall back, fall back!" Female Marine: "Sergeant, come on!"

Sergeant: "Ahhh!"

Sergeant: "No! No! No!"

Female Marine: "What are you doing?! That's the sergeant!" Marine: "That was the sergeant!"

I recently did some testing on both MCC and Halo 3, and though this Marine Sergeant has a 50% chance of having Stacker's model, it will have Reynold's voice for combat dialogue 100% of the time. Additionally, the voice on the radio is undoubtedly this particular Marine Sergeant, as if you run out of range you will actually hear final two lines broadcast on the COM, yet if you run close to him you will hear the same lines from the model.

From this point onward in the game, there are three more instances where he as a 50% chance of appearing. In his The Ark spawn, AND second The Covenant spawn however, he has no scripted dialogue, and Stacker's scripted lines will still play, despite the fact that he has been replaced by Reynolds. This is contrary to other instances such as The Storm and (the first spawn in) The Covenant, where whichever Sergeant spawns will say the scripted dialogue.

Reynolds' face appears on the memorial three times, however he is also present among the marines attending. So we have a lot of conflicting information within the game. However as we know, not all appearances are actually intended to be the Reynolds character, such as the times where 2 Reynolds Sergeant models can spawn, or the various dead marines in the game with his voice (dead models voices can be heard when infected by flood) and model.

Therefore, when making a decision on his death using the information we have, I would lean towards considering Reynolds canonically the Marine Sergeant on the ramp in Floodgate, considering the model-swapping with Stacker in the same level an iteration of the known bug on Tsavo Highway, and considering the three other spawns as unintended to be Reynolds. The scripted dialogue supports this conclusion for The Ark and the second The Covenant spawn, leaving the first The Covenant ODST Sergeant spawn as an outlier (though we have no precedent for Reynolds being an ODST, which we *do* have for Stacker)

I am proposing this article (and the relevant transcript section from the Floodgate article) be rewritten to reflect his death in Floodgate There's enough evidence to support it, and no solid evidence to contradict it in my opinion. JiMMyPaZ (talk) 20:23, January 15, 2020 (EST)

Possible Death Update[edit]

Our current approach is the following:

  • List Reynolds as Presumably Deceased
  • Describe the events of Floodgate vaguely, as to neither imply that he lived or survived.
  • Explain his possible death in a note (summarized as "It is unclear if this is intended to be Reynolds, or another unnamed Sergeant from the forward operating base, because he spawns 3 more times in Halo 3, albeit with only one appearance having scripted dialogue.")

However I've just realized that the cutscene at the beginning of The Covenant depicts Stacker as the ODST Sergeant 100% of the time. In a canon sense, Reynolds can not have been that ODST sergeant, as it is impossible for both Sergeants to be present, and due to the cutscene, it is impossible for Stacker to not be present. With his other two spawns already established as not working canonically, this rules out all three of Reynold's post-death spawns. Proposal:

  • Describe the events of Floodgate in detail, as per the scripted dialogue/ our level transcript.
  • Explain his post-death spawns in a note (summarized as "While Reynolds' model can spawn on 3 more occasions in Halo 3, they are likely purely-gameplay appearances, as the Sergeant's scripted and cutscene dialogue is supplanted by Stacker on all three occasions, regardless of who is present in gameplay") --JiMMyPaZ (talk) 05:13, February 22, 2020 (EST)
