Talk:Epilogue (Halo 4 level)

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

The Didact's dialogue at the end seems to be from his trial after the first Human-Forerunner war and not after his defeat by John. This line in particular seems to reinforce this:

"I stand before you. Accused of the sin of ensuring Forerunner ascendancy. Of attempting to save us from this fate where we are forced to... recede..."

After the first conflict with the Humans Didact was put on trial for crimes against the Mantle and thus why he was in a cryptum at the beginning of the Greg Bear novels.

True, but you have to wonder about this line: "We squander eons in the darkness, while they seize our triumphs for their own." It sure sounds like he's talking about how humanity has been reverse-engineering their artifacts. Before the Halos fired there's no place where this instance could be easily set. Overall the matter is highly nebulous and debatable. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 13:27, 24 November 2012 (EST)

Point made, however that also could have been in reference to not recognizing humanity as a threat before the initial conflict. But as you say it is debatable with good points for each

Cutscene order[edit]

We're definitely certain the scene with John and Lasky is part of Epilogue and not of Midnight? Every walkthrough I see of both levels places that scene with Midnight. (I don't own Halo 4, so I can't check.) Tuckerscreator(stalk) 23:01, 6 January 2013 (EST)

Just started the level "Epilogue" from Halo 4's campaign lobby. It starts with the scene with John floating in space. It then goes to the scene with Lasky and John. It is followed by the credits, which is basically part of the Epilogue. Then the New Phoenix scene. So yeah, the scene with John and Lasky is part of Epilogue. —SPARTAN331 02:16, 12 January 2013 (EST)

Huh. Weird then that every Youtube walkthrough keeps putting the Infinity scene in the Midnight video. Must be because of the credits. Understood, thanks. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 02:48, 12 January 2013 (EST)

Soundtrack[edit]

For the post-credits scene (starting with the view of the ruined city and the voiceover by the Didact), has anyone found the background music on any soundtrack anywhere? It's a uniquely remixed version of "117" from the original soundtrack...if you listen to 117 starting at around 3:45 to the end, you can hear parts of it, but the actual music that plays during the cutscene is, as I said, a unique remix that doesn't seem to be on the soundtrack. 24.15.64.123 02:07, 21 January 2013 (EST)

Not really. The music featured in the post-credit scene is, as you said, 117 starting at around 3:45. 343i just cut a large section of the music to fit in with the cutscene's duration (they skipped from around 5:25 to 7:00). They also removed some of the instruments parts. You can try looking for someone on the internet who isolated the music from the cutscene and uploaded it to somewhere, but I doubt someone would do that. —SPARTAN331 03:06, 21 January 2013 (EST)
