The name ''Random Slipspace Trajectory'' alludes to the [[Cole Protocol]], which stipulates that, when retreating from the [[Covenant]], [[United Nations Space Command|UNSC]] ships must enter [[Slipstream space]] with randomized vectors not directed towards any [[human]] worlds. The {{UNSCShip|Pillar of Autumn}} was originally intended to make a random slipspace jump following its retreat following the [[Fall of Reach|Fall]] of [[Reach]], but [[Cortana]] surreptitiously guided the ship to the [[Soell system]] and, ultimately, to [[Installation 04]] instead.
