'''Admiral Mattius Drake''' was the founder of the [[New Colonial Alliance]], an [[Insurrectionist]] organisation active in the [[Post-Covenant War conflicts|era of unrest]] following the [[Human-Covenant War]]. Originally an [[Admiral]] in the [[UNSC Navy]], Drake defected from the [[United Nations Space Command]] and gathered a large force under his banner.{{Ref/Comic|Id=HI3|HInit|Issue=3}} Ultimately, he was killed and replaced as the head of the NCA by his underling, the ex-[[SPARTAN-IV program|SPARTAN-IV]] [[Ilsa Zane]].{{Ref/Novel|Id=T3L|Halo: The Third Life}}

==Biography==
Unknown to the UNSC, Drake was actually the leader of an [[Insurrectionist]] group known as the [[New Colonial Alliance]]. When his group of Insurrectionists, under the command of [[Ilsa Zane]] [[Raid on UNSC Infinity|took control]] of the {{UNSCShip|Infinity}} she ordered them to contact Admiral Drake. They were defeated soon after however, when the freshly augmented [[SPARTAN-IV]]s [[Sarah Palmer]] and [[Edward Davis]] retook the bridge. The part of the group that was captured revealed to the UNSC that Drake was part of the Insurrection.{{Ref/Reuse|HI3}}

Drake had also recruited UNSC Captain [[Daniel Clayton]] to his cause. In [[2558]], Captain Clayton would [[Battle of Ealen IV|attempt to kill]] Fleet Admiral Lord [[Terrence Hood]] at a diplomatic summit on [[Ealen IV]] by sending [[Vata 'Gajat's mercenary group|Covenant mercenaries]],{{Ref/Comic|HEsc|Issue=2}} and then in an [[Ambush at Oth Lodon|ambush]] on [[Oth Lodon]].{{Ref/Comic|HEsc|Issue=5}}
