Corporal Lovik was an enlisted serviceman in the UNSC Marine Corps. He was attached to the UNSC Pillar of Autumn in September 2552 and participated in the Battle of Installation 04.[1]
Biography[edit]
Lovik was one of the Marines stationed on the UNSC Pillar of Autumn when the ship escaped from the Fall of Reach on August 30, 2552.[3] On September 19, he was listed as the squad leader for Marine Security Detail B on Bravo Shift on Pillar of Autumn's duty roster, with his squad members being Chips Dubbo, Manuel Mendoza, and O'Brien.[4] When the ship arrived at Installation 04 on September 19, it was attacked by the Covenant, marking the beginning of the Battle of Installation 04.[3]
Having survived when the UNSC forces made landfall on the ring, Lovik was part of the UNSC team led by Captain Jacob Keyes and Sergeant Major Avery Johnson, to secure a supposed Covenant weapons cache that a captured Sangheili, 'Qualomee, had disclosed to them during an interrogation.[1] Unbeknownst to them, the "cache" was in fact a Flood containment facility. Lovik was left in charge of second squad while Fireteam Charlie accompanied Captain Keyes into the facility, with second squad ordered to cover the fireteam's retreat. Not long after, second squad was ambushed by the Flood, with Lovik attempting to make a desperate last transmission to Fireteam Charlie before his death and presumed conversion.[2][1]
Lovik's final transmission was recorded by Wallace Jenkins' helmet recorder and its memory chip, which was accessed by John-117 when he searched for Captain Keyes in the facility.[2]
Production notes[edit]
- Lovik's voice was first heard in Halo: Combat Evolved as an unidentified corporal. He was named in the game's novelization Halo: The Flood.
- In all his game appearances, Lovik is voiced by Bungie employee Chris Carney.[5][6] In Halo: Campaign Evolved, Carney's cameo as Lovik is credited as "Classic Trooper 1".[7]
