Condemned is set on an intact section of the severely damaged communications platform [[Gamma Station]] in orbit of the [[planet]] [[Reach]] toward the very end of the [[Covenant]]'s [[Fall of Reach|assault on the planet]] in [[2552]]. Prior to the Covenant invasion, the station provided long range communications for [[UNSC]] fleets and served as a vital lifeline between Reach and [[Earth]]. Condemned is broadly circular map with five multi-floor main areas connected to each other. Each of the fourth main areas (Repair Bay, Communications, Tram Station, and Generator) are connected to adjacent area with hallways; all four are connected to the middle of the map, Center Core, which has low gravity and shield doors that block off weapon fire from adjacent rooms.

*There are [[Banshee]]s and [[FSS-1000 Sabre|Sabres]] fighting each other in the space battle outside the map. However, the Banshees use the model of regular [[Is'belox-pattern Banshee|atmospheric Banshees]] rather than [[Elsedda-pattern Banshee|Space Banshees]].
*There appears to be a third moon of Reach, which is strange as all official material states that there are only two. [[Csodaszarvas]] and [[Turul]] can be seen just above Reach, while a second Csodaszarvas can be seen in the glass roof of Center Core.
