| Although they do not appear in any of the Halo games, the Covenant Drone Engineers have been mentioned in Halo fiction several times and were fully realized in design terms. They are mainly stored onboard shisp to assist [[Engineers]] and [[Drones]] in their repair and maintenance duties, and though they bear both words in their name are true mechanical drones, rather than hybrids. Seven such drones were stored aboard the Covenant Flagship [[Ascendant Justice]], and were likely taken back to Earth by the UNSC forces that had captured the ship.<ref>Halo: First Strike</ref>
