The ranking system in Halo Infinite is primarily focused on a player's per-playlist Competitive Skill Rank (CSR), and will feature a form of career rank in Season 04. The closest alternatives to the progression rank systems found in prior titles come in the form of Halo Infinite's Battle Pass system, wherein armor pieces can be unlocked via challenges.

Competitive Skill Ranks (CSR)

"CSR measures your ability against opponents of each skill level: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Onyx. Your rank improves when you perform better than expected. Play 10 matches in a ranked playlist to determine your starting CSR for the season."
— In-game description

Halo Infinite employs a competitive ranking system similar to that of the previous game, Halo 5: Guardians. When searching for matches in ranked playlists, players must complete 10 matches to be given a placement in the initial ranking structure, and from there can move up or down depending on performance.[1]

The ranks are divided into six categories, with the first five having six sub-tiers, as follows;

  • Bronze I-VI
  • Silver I-VI
  • Gold I-VI
  • Platinum I-VI
  • Diamond I-VI
  • Onyx I

As with Halo 5: Guardians, Halo Infinite's competitive ranks reset at the start of each new season, requiring players to complete placement matches and start from scratch each time.
