Orbital Defense Generators (ODG) are large, groundside facilities that power [[Orbital Defense Platforms]]. It is unknown exactly how this process works, but it can be assumed that energy is sent through the atmosphere to the Mark V "Super" [[MAC]] guns in space. As seen in the [[Fall of Reach]], there are only [[7]] facilities, but there are 15 MAC guns in orbit, meaning that one generator station can probably power more than one MAC gun.

Summary

Orbital Defense Generators (ODG) are large, groundside facilities that power Orbital Defence Platforms. It is unknown exactly how this process works, but it can be assumed that energy is sent through the atmosphere to the Mark V "Super" MAC guns in space. As seen in the Fall of Reach, there are only 7 facilities, but there are 15 MAC guns in orbit, meaning that one generator station can probably power more than one MAC gun.

Because of their groundside location, ODGs are succeptible to enemy ground attack in order to disable the MAC guns as seen during the Battle of Reach. Because they are extremely valuble to UNSC space combat units, they may have up to a fully armed company protecting them.
