Two upgrades are available for the helmet, the first adds a Hardened Uplink/Remote Sensor Package on the left side (HU/RS), and the second adds a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Module with a Hardened Uplink/Remote Sensor Package on the right side (incorrectly not mentioned) (CBRN, should be CBRN/HU/RS). The CBRN attachment does not take on its usual gas mask appearance, instead it is the same as the CBRN that is standard on the EOD helmet.

The MJOLNIR Mark V [G], also known as GUNGNIR, is a variant of the Mark V MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor. Developed as a part of the GUNGNIR Program, the Mark V [G] variant consists of a helmet, shoulder pauldrons and knee guards.[1]

Characteristics

All current GUNGNIR Armor Permutations in Halo: Reach.

Helmet Characteristics

Base price: 250,000 cR[1]
HU/RS price: 125,000 cR[1]
CRBN price: 400,000 cR[1]

The GUNGNIR helmet is boxy and comes with more facial protection than any other helmet as it fully covers the front of the head and it replaces the usage of a visor with a small camera on the left that displays the outside to the user. The plating on the helmet takes the secondary armor color, with visor color only determining the color of the plating's video camera "eye". It bears a white stripe running down the right side with the Norse symbol for Gungnir in the center.[1]

The CBRN attachment does not take on its usual tubular appearance, and instead has the same appearance as the CBRN that is standard on the EOD helmet.

Shoulder characteristics

Left shoulder price: 8000 cR[1]
Right shoulder price: 8000 cR[1]
Rank: Warrant Officer

The Supplemental Armor, Pauldron, MJOLNIR Mk. V [G] is curved and covers most of the shoulder and upper arm. It bears something of a resemblance to the shoulder of the Security armor, but doesn't wrap around the shoulder as much.

Knee guard characteristics

Price: 25,000 cR[1]

The GUNGNIR knee guards primarily protect the knee cap and also cover some parts surrounding it.

Trivia

  • The GUNGNIR helmet has only one video camera "eye" on one side of the face; in Norse mythology, the god Odin also had one eye.
  • The GUNGNIR helmet can be unlocked for use when one has reached the rank of Brigadier in Halo: Reach.
  • The HU/RS helmet attatchment requires the rank of Brigadier to be purchased.
  • The CBRN helmet attatchment requires the rank of Mythic to be purchased.
  • The knee guards require the rank of captain to be purchased for player use.
