Little is known about Chawla Base other than it is an ONI base located in the city of Boston, Massachusetts in the United States, on Earth. It consisted of at least 44 buildings. It also housed a Forerunner artifact. It is possible that the name was inspired by Kalpana Chawla, an Indian-American scientist and a NASA astronaut who was killed in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster on February 1, 2003.

• Building 41 - red-level security
  • A laboratory inside housed the Forerunner Deep-Space Artifact

Security Levels

There are at least six Security Levels (possibly 7), each ascending with greater strength. They are alternatively referred to by colors.

• Green - relatively low
• Blue - relatively high
• Red - Level 5
• Black - the highest
