1 Flag CTF

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

1 Flag CTF is a game variant of Capture the Flag.

This game type places two teams on opposite sides of the map with a "base". Ideal 1 Flag CTF maps include Zanzibar, Headlong, Ivory Tower, Relic, and Terminal from Halo 2.

Like most games, the player is unable to fire their weapon while holding the flag, and they won't be able to drive a vehicle or shoot in one e.g. on the back of a Warthog. However, the play can enter passenger seats, such as the side-seat in the Warthog. Alternatively vehicle boarding options can be changed while in the pre-game lobby.

Objectives

One team defends their flag, while the other team attempts to capture it. After the round is over the teams switch sides. There are usually 4 rounds. Once the offensive team has infiltrated the enemy base, the flag carrier must return the flag to the flag stand in their own base to score a point. This game is very similar to Assault, but played the opposite way. In Assault, a bomb is taken into the enemy base, whereas in CTF the flag is stolen from the enemy base.

The job of the defending team is obviously to defend the flag, and if it is taken by a member of the opposing team, the main objective is to kill the flag carrier, and guard the flag until its timer runs down and the flag is returned to their base.

Strategies

A skilled sniper should constantly cover their own flag and/or the flag carrier. Players should aim for the potential flag carrier to have a good close combat weapon, such as an Energy Sword or Shotgun, with the sniper covering him. If the carrier gets into a bad situation, he could drop the flag, slaughter his opponent(s), and then resume his trip back to base.

The flag should always be guarded and when attacking, use a vehicle and keep the vehicle gunning/moving while waiting for the flag carrier.

Basically, this game relies on teamwork, as all other objective games do.
