The ceremony was interrupted by the [[First Battle of Earth]] with [[Lord Terrence Hood|Fleet Admiral Hood]] commanding UNSC forces from the station. Unlike ''Athens'' and ''Malta'', ''Cairo'' survived the [[Covenant]] attempt to detonate an [[Anti-Matter Bomb]] onboard.
