On November 17, 2552, the [[Excession]] was activated by ''[[Anodyne Spirit]]'', a {{Class|Supernal Spiral|keyship}} commanded by the [[Prophet of Truth]]. Soon after, the Fleet of Retribution traveled through the portal and arrived at [[Installation 00]] where they started their naval attack on Covenant loyalist ships. Usze was sent to the surface with a squad of Sangheili soldiers commanded by [[Thel 'Vadam]] to assist [[United Nations Space Command|UNSC]] forces with [[Battle of the Citadel|deactivating the three shield generators]] protecting the [[Installation 00 Citadel|Citadel]]. The mission's team—Usze, N'tho, [[Kola 'Baoth]], [[Zon 'Vadum]], Vale, Richards, Holt, Spartan [[Frank Kodiak]], [[Luther Mann]], [[Henry Lamb]], ten [[UNSC Marines]], and Drifts—left the ''Mayhem'' and began venturing towards the Ark's [[Installation 00 Citadel|Citadel]] to stop the Halo Array's activation. After encountering peaceful [[olfmeri]],{{Ref/Novel|HiTD|Chapter=8}} the group was attacked by a pack of [[Morolaath|blind wolves]]. The group remained silent and still at Vale's insistence, and the blind wolves moved on.{{Ref/Novel|Id=HiTD9|HiTD|Chapter=9}} However, they were promptly attacked by ''[[chaefka]]''. Usze 'Taham, N'tho 'Sraom, and Kola 'Baoth served as escorts to and from the meeting, which had concluded with little progress made. The four Sangheili returned to Vadam Keep in a [[Crav]] operated by N'tho while Usze and Kola kept watch on their surroundings. As they passed through the [[Old Borough]] of [[Vadam Valley]], the Crav was stopped by a patrol of Created [[armiger]]s looking for participants of a recent altercation. Although his associates were reluctant, Thel consented to a search of the Crav. During the search, the group's weapons were confiscated, to the outrage of Usze and the others.
