RE:Template:Elite Ranks[edit]

it's a rather radical change, but I can't disagree. I think both look kinda stylish, so it's your call, bossman, Ed, Mr. Administrator, sir, excellency, Mr. Administrator of Halopedia, one whose userpage was ripped off by a user who's known as RR, someone that's made a helluva number of pages, or WHATEVER TITLE YOU WANT! =D ;D

Cheers,

RelentlessRecusant 00:33, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

fanart[edit]

Our little disagreement in the fanart topic was getting a little out of hand, so I'm just going to ask you here: What exactly constitutes that an image be classified as fanart? What exactly constitutes that an image classified as fanart be voted upon as to whether it is kept or deleted? Because as far as anyone else can tell, the Seraph picture is only fanart in that the model was taken out of the game and rendered from a good angle with different lighting and a background. Dojorkan actually said that it's probably classified as fanart because it wasn't an official picture released by Bungie. If this is the case, then every single unofficial game screenshot should be voted upon as well before it can be used. Even if you allow multiplayer screenshots, there are other modded screenshots that have been left untouched by the fanart committee, and it just gets confusing. If you can answer those questions, it would be greatly appreciated, and putting them on the fanart page would also be most helpful. guesty-persony-thingy 02:54, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Oh. I wasn't really mad or anything I was just saying...Anyways, Fan Art is usually considered to be anything that was created outside of Bungie resources. All screenshots, most mods using material on the Halo disk, and all images from the Canon sources are not fanart, but any drawings, graphics, animations, or other things are considered fanart because they were completely created by fans. The Seraph Image is considered fanart because, though the seraph shown is based on the one that appears in the game, it isn't. It was likely designed and rendered entirely by a fan and not made from modding. It's in a gray area, so the fanart comittee gets to decide it.
Of course, you'rte talking to me, probably the hard-liner of the comittee. I don't think any non-screenshots are needed on Halopedia, and usually vote that way. For clarification, though, I should create an Image policy. -ED 20:03, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I had an idea[edit]

I’ve had an amazing idea; As certain Users have more knowledge in different areas of the Halo Universe why not chose a main user to keep an eye on, watch over those certain articles e.g. the star ship articles Relentless worked hard on, or all the weapon articles. They would be like Semi Admins with no privileges it would just be their job to make sure that there was no Fan Fiction or over vandalism in their articles and start up votes for articles deletion or merging; Users could go to them to refure data and so on. They could be chosen by the Admins or elected by the users meaning starting up campaigns which would be very amusing. And given Titles to fit their job e.g. Imperial Admiral it was just a thought. --Climax Viod 15:46, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Users do a lot to put themselves in charge of specific areas. I wouldn;t think that to be necessary. -ED 20:04, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

BAN THE AFOREMENTIONED USER!!!

And do you know of any ways to become an admin on this Wiki, as I would definately contribute to vandal-fighting (like now), and would use any admin powers judiciously to further the combating of nonsense-spouting on this site?

Cheers,

TRU7H 20:05, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I leave it up to Dragonclaws entirely if he wants a new admin, I'm the newest of the four. -ED 03:24, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

User:Editcount/editcount.js[edit]

I've already left a message on User talk:Esemono regarding unprotection of the page, but I haven't received a reply yet. I'm wondering if you can look into User talk:Esemono#User:Editcount/editcount.js. Thanks. G.He(Talk!) 20:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

whoa![edit]

I meant not to offend you, Ed.

I understand that Halopedia's not exactly any other Wikia, but implore you to look at Wikipedia and Halopedia. For all fictional battles (ie: in our case, Halo), it's the Battle of Whattevergoesinhere.

<shrugs>

Just my thoughts.

Regards,

RelentlessRecusant 23:13, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Copy that. Please accept my apologies. I shalt spilleth no heretic anaethma nevermore! (yes, that's a double negative and means I WILL, but ya gte the point - I won't). BTW, ya know a lot regarding WWII? Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 23:26, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Hah I wasn't mad, I was just getting to the point. And yeah, I know a lot about WWII because I have 2 years experience in high school ROTC and I'm enrolled in ROTC for college next fall, too. I have to know a lot about these things. -ED 23:28, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

MediaWiki?[edit]

Hey Ed, do you know howta get that box up on top of articles that's under the MediaWiki jurisdiction?

Cheers,

RelentlessRecusant 23:16, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

The only box on top of articles on my browser is the title of the article...You know more than me about that...-ED 23:30, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Umm...like on other Wikias, they have boxes proclaiming important events on top of every article when they place such MediaWiki thingies...? Later. Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 23:31, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, that. Porplemontage and Dragonclaws usually work the public announcement board, its only accessible to admins. Did you want to put something on it?-ED 23:33, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, as you can see, we've been challenged by Bungie to a Humpday Challenge, and I'm coordinating the Halopedia Team. Peeps need to know when the tryouts are (there will be several), and I can't keep on messaging all of 'em! It's driving me crazy! Can you unprotect it for several days until the challenge is finished? If not, can I just give you what I'd like to be updated? Thanks, Ed. Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 23:50, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it can be unprotected...Its just one of those functions that is only avaliable for people with sysop powers. But if you want me to put something on it, I will. -ED 23:51, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
'''Bungie has challenged Halopedia to a HUMPDAY CHALLENGE on Wednesday night, February the 7th. If you are interested in being on Team Halopedia, please visit the team's page, consider joining the tryouts, and message [[user:RelentlessRecusant|RelentlessRecusant]], the coordinator, about your interest. The next tryout will be at 2:00 pm Eastern Time on Saturday the 3rd.'''

Could ya put that on?

Cheers,

RelentlessRecusant 00:30, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

yahoo! that's what I'M talking 'bout! =D also, could you remove the dash? it's unnecessary to the coding. Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 00:40, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm sincerely regretful to contact you repeatedly after all that you've done for me...but on the MediaWiki thingy, could ya change the team's page thingy to:
team's page
Thanks! Cheers, RelentlessRecusant 00:43, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

humpday[edit]

umm...could ya put a temporary template on the front page before the DYK and FA templates for the humpday challenge? I just would like it to balance the front page aesthetically.

sorry if I'm asking too much! =S

Cheers,

RelentlessRecusant 00:34, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: Award[edit]

Thank you sir! It is an honor. I'll continue to do my best. --Shch 'Nodotee File:Donut 7.JPG|35 01:50, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

MediaWiki?[edit]

Could you add the following text?

"Bungie has challenged Halopedia to a HUMPDAY CHALLENGE on Wednesday night, February the 7th. Team Halopedia has been selected, and practices are being conducted at 3:30 pm EST (1:30 pm PST) and 8:00 pm EST (5:00 pm EST). Other Halopedians are also invited to join for fun."

Thanks for the assist sir[edit]

I've been on a trip for a while, but from what i can make out some guy deleted my userpage, and you reverted it. I'd just like to thank you. -- SpecOps306 21:14, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. -ED 03:06, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

calling for confirmation[edit]

Dear Ed,

Do you concur with my modifications to the Main Page?

Best Regards,

My Girlfriend is Helen (Talk) (Contribs) (Helen) File:CortanaRR.jpg|20 21:59, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

The new color schemes are nice, but I'm not so sure about the featured image and featured quote section. I think there should be more official ways for the community to vote for such things. -ED 22:01, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Can you ban someone...[edit]

...again? F.U.C.K is back, because his ban expired. If someone would just ban him permanently, that would help us out so much. guesty-persony-thingyI too am an AI... my owner's name is Supreme Honcho. 01:02, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Whoops... okay, so can you ban his username instead? guesty-persony-thingyI too am an AI... my owner's name is Supreme Honcho. 01:11, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I'll see what I can do. -ED 02:01, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

suggestion[edit]

Could you delete WIKIPEDIA IS MISOGYNY and its talk page, and then protect them so that only admins could edit them? So when that vandal comes back, he won't be able to recreate those pages.

Over and out.

Cheers,

My Girlfriend is Helen (Talk) (Contribs) (Helen) File:CortanaRR.jpg|15 02:12, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

He made the mistake of letting us know his IP, it would seem. I banned it forever. -ED 03:21, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Good. =D Cheers, My Girlfriend is Helen (Talk) (Contribs) (Helen) File:CortanaRR.jpg|15 03:25, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes, but god knows, he'll probably find another. IPs change regularly, and he can probably go a number of places to continue to vandalize if he's presistent. You'll be giving out a lot of those shiny new assault rifles. -ED 03:34, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure about saying this in public... but it seems he's gone for now. He was using a proxy, and thus had a different IP address, which he can change just by using a different proxy; he just won't be able to log into his account for six months, but I doubt that's going to stop him--look at his first edit when he figured out what a proxy was; he wasn't logged in. But maybe he'll just get tired of trying to log in after a while, make another account, get that one banned as well, and eventually maybe he'll just stop. I know that usually you can get someone who prefers insulting people rather than websites that we aren't affiliated with to stop just by talking to them, but this guy's unusually persistent for some reason. Meh... whatever. guesty-persony-thingyI too am an AI... my owner's name is Supreme Honcho. 03:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. It's very easy to undo anything a vandal can try. At least he isn't another Monkt. -ED 03:44, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Then could you paste "ta['ca-nstab-forum'] = new Array('c','View the forum page');" at the "tooltips" section at the bottom of the Common.css page, and then upload the picture "http://starter.wikia.com/wiki/File:Forum_new.gif" to Halopedia? Best regards, My Name is Helen (Talk) (Contribs) (Helen) File:CortanaRR.jpg|15 21:32, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Uploaded the image, added the stuff to the mediawiki page. I assume the lines need to be numbered, they don't seem to be changing anything. -ED 21:41, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Okay. Could you place:

/* <pre><nowiki> */

At the top and...

/* </nowiki> */

at the bottom?

Cheers,

Could also be added?

Thanks SO much! =D

template?[edit]

I felt the one I made was in-theme with Halo, and can be used for other pages that are being edit protected...I think I'm gonna ask for all the temps in the Category:Important Templates to be not-editable by IPs.

Global admin's request?[edit]

I looked around and didn't see where it was requested that the featured quote and picture were removed... would you mind giving me a linky, bitte? guesty-persony-thingyI too am an AI... my owner's name is Supreme Honcho. 23:41, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

See Talk:Main Page. Our wiki must have the ads on the side bar visible, that's the only way it stays free. The global admin noticed that the featured image was blocking the ads, which is a trademark infringement, so i removed the quote. The only reason it was doing this was the vote box on the front page, so after the game tonight, we can put it back up. -ED 00:21, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Ship Emblem[edit]

Very nicely written, esp. with the beautiful gallery at the bottom.

However, a suggestion. It's not the UNSC In Amber Clad - it's the UNSC In Amber Clad. To automatically write that and to provide a link, I wrote the UNSC Ship template. It works like this...to provide a link to the IAC page, write:

UNSCShip|In Amber Clad

And it looks like: UNSCShip|In Amber Clad.

Later, man.
