User:Pilot/Sandbox/Replacing Button Texts with SVG Button Images Project

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

Uses

I think this would help to make it less wordy, nicer, and easier to read.
These images wouldn't just be used for control schemes; they also can be used in other pages like this:

Issues

The main reason they are issues is that between the Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers's two buttons' icons and names were changed.

An X-input controller (not by Microsoft) supports Halo MCC and Halo Infinite on PC, in fact, BTW.
Option #1: Use special "Back/View" Button's and "Start/Menu" Button's icons.
Maybe they can be mixed like this Batman/Superman logo, for example.
Option #2: Just use Xbox One controller icons for Halo MCC and subsequent games.

They might be too confusing unless a viewer has to click a button to the template page for information.

Outro: I'm not sure it's fine to have some missing button images on a template page.

Controller Buttons Order

Below the table:

Controller
Original Xbox X-Input
Unbind
Left Analog
Right Analog
A
B
X
Y
White Button
Left Bumper
Black Button
Right Bumper
"Back/View" Button
"Start/Menu" Button
Left Analog Click
Right Analog Click
Left Trigger
Right Trigger
← D-Pad
↑ D-Pad
→ D-Pad
↓ D-Pad

Notice they aren't in alphabetical order; instead, the order is based on facts and my opinions:

  • Unbind to Left Analog: keyboard and mouse buttons/keys have a Unbind key whitch is 0.
  • Right Analog to A: In many control scheme pages, "stick layouts" is 1st and "button layouts" is 2nd.
  • Right Trigger to ← D-Pad: This is due to D-pads being less used than the buttons.

The original Xbox controller isn't an X-Input controller, but because I couldn't find information about the code order, they aren't in order; however, in Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 on Xbox 360 with backwards compatibility, the "White Button" is "Left Bumper", and the "Black Button" is "Right Bumper".
